A month-long art exhibit featuring works by Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) faculty, staff and students is available for public viewing at the K.E. White Gallery to celebrate Black History Month.
The opening session, set for Thursday at 5 p.m. Feb. 8, will showcase artwork, crafts, photographs, artifacts, and related items to share, celebrate, and understand the impact of Black heritage and culture, university organizers said.
The viewing, which ends Friday, March 8, is hosted by the ECSU Department of Music and Visual Arts. In recent years it has included 30 to 50 works of art. Viewings are available by appointment throughout the week and the gallery is closed on the weekend.

“Allowing our campus community the chance to showcase their talent through artwork is something we look forward to every year this time,” said Eric Luchian, an associate professor in the Department of Music and Visual Arts. “The culture is rich and we’re happy to share it in this way.”
